Hambden Fire Department is a combination paid / volunteer  fire department which serves the residents of Hambden Township in Northeast Ohio. We were founded in 1957 having previously received fire protection from Chardon. Our first response area is 25 square miles and protects approximately 4,676 people. We also respond automatic aid for another 225 square miles for reported fires, which includes Aquilla Village, City of Chardon, Chardon Township, Munson Township, Montville Township, Claridon Township, Leroy Township, Huntsburg Township, Middlefield Village, Middlefield Township, Thompson Township and parts of Concord Township. Providing 24-hour Fire and Advanced Life Support EMS coverage to our residents, the department operates 11 vehicles, including: 2 Engines, 1 Tanker, 2 Ambulances, a Jeep, a Utility Vehicle, a Chase Vehicle, a Chief's Car, a Row Boat, & a Geauga County Hazmat Team Spill Trailer. We have 35 members working from one fire station. Our average call volume is just under 1,000 calls per year, with many of those being EMS oriented.  The station is staffed 24 hours a day by 3 Personnel.  Most of our members are cross trained in Fire and EMS with many of them having specialized training. We are a progressive department that is always looking for new ways to better serve our community!
